Play sits at the centre of the Moving Mountains experience.
We believe that Play is as important for our bodies and minds as any functional movement class or nourishing meal.
To celebrate our locations, we have created a set of Empowering Expeditions and Curated Adventures for our guests designed with nothing more than pure unadulterated fun in mind.
OUR PLAY EXPERIENCES

Empowering Expeditions
Empowering Expeditions give you the chance to challenge yourself physically or master a new skill, while immersing you in the surrounding nature.

Curated Adventures
Our Curated Adventures are about discovering the regions around our hotels and the local artisans, producers and characters that make our locations so special. This is an opportunity for you to leave everyday life behind and delve into the local traditions and cultures.
Play Activities
“Serata Ticinese”: Ticino evening with friends
Curated AdventureAuthentic Ticinese sharing platters, polenta fresh from the fire and regional wines are your companions for atmospheric summer evenings in Ascona. Get up close with the tradition and culture of the region in the gardens of Casa Epper or the Restaurant La Casetta (April, May, October).
A culinary excursion: fishing on Lake Maggiore
Curated AdventureIt’s well known that the early bird catches the worm – so take advantage of the calm hours of the morning to enjoy a short boat trip in search of zander, perch and whitefish. Experienced fishermen will be on hand to show you their tricks and guarantee a successful catch. Later, you can then have the fresh fish prepared for dinner.
A tour of discovery: to the Bolle di Magadino by boat
Curated AdventureThere are now no completely unspoiled delta ecosystems left in Switzerland. The Bolle di Magadino nature reserve is one of the last delta landscapes in which at least some of the natural habitats have been preserved. After reaching the nature reserve by boat, take a walk and discover more about the area from local guides.
Ascona from the water: a kayaking tour
Empowering ExpeditionA quick power snack – and away we go! This kayak tour meanders either to the Bay of Ascona or along the shore of the delta before arriving at the mouth of the Maggia. It is here – where the shimmering blue water empties out into the lake – that the river’s beauty truly unfolds. The tour is an active way to start to the day and a chance to see Lake Maggiore at its most serene. As you paddle, you’ll be regaled by entertaining anecdotes about Ascona and facts about the region.
Gliding weightlessly over the water: wakeboarding on Lake Maggiore
Empowering ExpeditionOur dedicated professional wakeboarders are waiting to welcome you at our water sports school with top-of-the-range equipment and beginners’ coaching to get you started. This Empowering Expedition guarantees fun in the cool waters of the lake.
Greeting the day: a sunrise hike
Empowering ExpeditionEquipped with headtorch and rucksack, we head from Eden Roc first to Parco Parsifal, a wildlife and safari park, before a short hike to Balladrüm viewpoint. While this latter part of the hike requires a moderate level of fitness, the effort is well rewarded – not only by refreshments, but by breath-taking views of the rising sun. The way back to the hotel is via the Sentiero Romano trail along the shores of Lake Maggiore.
Learning from the best: boccia with local champions
Curated AdventureDid you know that the game of Boccia game is so deeply rooted in Ticino that even a world champion comes from the region? A sport that inspires. To honour this tradition, we invite you to enjoy an hour of boccia with local enthusiasts before our weekly Ticino-themed evening.
Soaring above the clouds: an introduction to paragliding
Empowering ExpeditionThis Empowering Expedition combines sport, adrenaline and stunning bird’s eye views of the Ascona-Locarno delta. A short hike leads to the Cardada mountain station on the Cimetta, where experienced tandem pilots are waiting to drift away with you into the Ticino sky.
Tavolata a Corippo: the first ‘albergo diffuso’ in the Ticino region
Curated AdventureThe Italian term ‘albergo diffuso’ roughly translates to ‘scattered hotel’ – a hospitality concept that uses old buildings for tourism. This is exactly what is intended for Corippo. While this tiny village no longer has permanent residents, it is now set to accommodate and inspire Ticino holidaymakers. Every first Saturday of the month (June, July, August and September), you can learn more about the village during a guided tour followed by a tavolata – a lunch with aperitivo and three courses.
Tracing the footsteps of Ignaz Epper: create your own piece of linocut art
Curated AdventureWhere better to learn the art of linocut than Casa Epper, the former home and workshop of Swiss expressionist Ignaz Epper? Professional artists await to help you craft your very own pattern for a postcard. Cut by cut, you’ll create an original holiday souvenir that’s entirely your own.
